Training for physical and health education teachers to work with students with autism as part of the P.E.rfect project
On October 25, in the "People's Heroes" hall, training was held for physical and health education teachers on working with students with autism in regular primary schools, in cooperation with the Faculty of Physical Education, Sports and Health.
Although the training was intended for 10 teachers, 30 teachers from all over Macedonia attended. At the beginning, they were introduced to the goal and results of the project, the online learning platform, as well as basic information about the characteristics of children with autism and the challenges in teaching physical education by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jasmina Trošanska. Then, the practical activities were led by Prof. Dr. Andrijana Zafirovska and Marina Pešić.
The training took place in an excellent atmosphere, and the evaluation showed us that for the first time, physical and health education teachers are attending training that is practical and appropriate to their needs.
The teachers showed interest in even more intensive and detailed training in the area of communication with children with autism and working on social skills in order to achieve greater inclusiveness of children in their classes.
We hope that in the future we will continue our cooperation and influence the improvement of the quality of education of children with autism in Macedonia.
